Our client is greatly experienced in manufacturing and developing Fast Moving Consumer Goods on behalf of brand owners. Operating across a number of highly regulated sectors, they have a great reputation with in-house specialist and accredited facilities available for meeting their customers' needs. They currently have a vacancy for an "Operations Director" based at their site in the South West of England.

The role will have overall responsibility for the manufacturing team driving performance and creating a team and flexible site capable of producing good quality products, excellent customer service in an efficient and safe working environment. Working closely with the business directors you will also help shape and deliver the strategic business objectives, ensuring the site continues to move in the right direction meeting its financial objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

* Functional responsibility for Operations Manufacturing, Packing, Engineering, Warehouse and Facilities on site.

* Health & Safety - Ensure that the site complies with best practices in terms of Health and Safety

* Utilise lean principles to building a flexible, cost effective business operation capable of supporting future growth plans

* Create a motivated, high performing team

* Driving a culture of continuous improvement with a mind-set that everything can and should be improved across the site

* Develop colleagues through effective Talent Management processes to build a robust sustainable structure fit for the future.

* Quality - Ensure that products are made to the quality agreements with customers and ensure that all deviations are investigated at root cause and re-occurrence prevented.

* Promote a 'Right First Time' culture, with pro-active problem solving and issue resolution.

* Ensure high levels of GMP at all times, working with the quality teams supporting internal and external audits.

* Support new business development and new product introduction processes

* Capex - formulating and executing within the agreed budget the capital plan for the site

* Work closely, playing a leadership role with other site departmental managers supporting the business.

The successful candidate will have:

* Formal education to degree level in engineering or science

* Extensive experience of demonstrating success working in an FMCG production environment

* Senior level operational experience acquired in a manufacturing business including extensive man management responsibility, particularly through periods of change

* A background of working in a business with a strong quality ethos

* Experience of working in multi-site businesses utilising matrix management

* Successful track record of delivering Lean Manufacturing principles and operational excellence in a factory environment.

* Proven P&L management experience

* Commitment to Health & Safety - preferably with IOSH qualification
