Acorn Executive Search acts as strategic partner, Welsh Gymnastics to assist with the recruitment of NEDs for their Boards.

We are, at present, looking for a Non-Executive Finance Director to join our Board. As we look to enhance our ambition in line with our new strategy, the successful candidate for the role will need to operate at a strategic level, focusing on financial and business planning, governance, risk, and investment planning. The individual will have an in-depth knowledge and experience of accounting, finance, and financial services; experience of guiding and supporting others in financial matters.

Welsh Gymnastics want to ensure more children, young people and adults from all backgrounds, abilities and communities can become involved with gymnastics, which is enjoyable, fun and above all, safe.

Welsh Gymnastics is a company limited by guarantee with a skills-based Board of Directors. We are looking to appoint a Non-Executive Finance Director.

To fully deliver against our ambitions, the NED Board Directors actively work together to attract a diverse range of members, representative of the community that it serves or seeks to engage. To operate effectively, make decisions and monitor performance. This is an exciting time to join Welsh Gymnastics Board of Directors, as we look to launch our new strategy later this year.

The Role:

* Remuneration: Voluntary position (expenses paid)
* Location: Four board meetings a year, two online and two in Cardiff. With some work outside of meeting. Estimated time commitment is 1 day a month.
* Term of Office: Initial 4 year term (2 terms max)

To operate effectively, make decisions and monitor performance, the Non-Executive Finance Director should collectively possess a wide range of skills, knowledge, experience, and competencies.

All members of the board should preferably have:

* Experience of working as a company director or in an appropriate senior executive management position
* Commitment to promote the highest standards of corporate governance and financial compliance
* The ability to represent and promote Welsh Gymnastics externally, leveraging networks to support fundraising, organisational and the organisation's development
* The highest standards of integrity and probity
* The ability to question intelligently, debate constructively, challenge rigorously and decide dispassionately
* The ability to work strategically as part of a team and to lead effectively in areas of specific responsibility
* The ability to attend quarterly Board Meetings and others as required
* A willingness to participate in meetings, ask questions and take responsibility
* Honesty, integrity and credibility in the community
* Tolerance and consideration of different views
* A track record of acting in good faith and in the best interests of an organisation
* An ability to listen, analyse, think clearly and work well with others
* Creating and maintaining positive and productive relationships with stakeholders
* At all times, acting with integrity and upholding the interests of Welsh Gymnastics
* Championing the work of Welsh Gymnastic
