Our client is a privately-owned, profitable, and growing specialty chemicals and packaging business supplying b2b, retail and 3rd party customers across food & drink, pharmaceutical and chemical industries globally.

Reporting to the Managing Director, whilst sitting on the board, you will take the lead in driving site strategy, providing 'fresh thinking', and a continuous improvement approach, focusing on optimising the performance of the operation, improving financial KPIs, and delivering exceptional levels of quality, productivity and operational efficiency, whilst driving a strong health & safety culture. Through exceptional communication ability, highly visible leadership and customer focus, you will develop, motivate and empower the workforce through a management team across Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain functions. You will lead, develop and strengthen the existing management team, and create an effective succession planning strategy in the process. Through your hands-on approach, you will play an active role in increasing the flexibility of the operation to create a more modern and responsive facility, whilst maintaining and developing its quality output.

As the ideal candidate you will:

* Be an exceptional Operations Director with a proven track record of improving manufacturing and supply chain processes in high volume processing industries such as chemicals, packaging, pharmaceuticals, or food & drink.

* Be capable of effectively driving change, preferably in a small to medium-sized operations with practical experience of introducing and utilising a variety of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

* Have the maturity and character to continue to embed existing good practices, whilst introducing new ways of working to create a more open and modern culture. As such, you will be a strong communicator and a skilled negotiator.

* Be highly numerate with the financial competence to manage and control the operation's budget.

* Whilst being hands-on in leading the operation, also be strategic in your approach and be able to advise the board on all operational matters, supporting the business's long-term vision and continued growth and success.

* Be experienced in leading significant capital expenditure projects to strategically important plans.
