Job Details

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) are looking to hire a Deputy Director of Innovation Accelerator and Regulatory Science to perform a crucial role in strengthening and developing new innovation services for the organisation, focusing on providing opportunities for innovators to actively engage with the Agency. The successful candidate will lead regulatory science activities and encourage innovative research in the Agency as well as scientific partnerships through hosting the grants strategy and office. The role will require maintaining long-term relationships with key external stakeholders in industry, government and academia while building new ones such as with new companies developing their first product.

There has never been a more exciting or challenging time to join this influential government agency. The past few years have presented significant challenges for everyone, which has meant the MHRA's role as the regulator of medicines and medical devices across the UK has never been more important. Recognised globally as an authority in its field, the MHRA plays a leading role in protecting and improving public health and supports innovation through scientific research and development.

As part of the leadership team in the Science, Research, and Innovation Group in the MHRA, you will help develop and deliver the Agency Science Strategy and scientific programs to improve patient health by enabling the earliest access and high-quality supply of safe, effective and innovative medical. The MHRA plays a central role in the government’s work to provide healthcare to the nation and the successful applicant will also interact with the Policy team to help develop future regulatory guidance in partnership with other regulatory bodies and functions.

The MHRA is proud of its commitment to diversity and inclusion. We have active and vibrant staff networks, special leave policies and workplace adjustments put in place for those who need them. We are continuing to build a diverse MHRA, in an inclusive environment which nurtures and realises potential in all, at all levels.

Applications must be completed (full application consists of CV, Statement of Suitability and diversity monitoring form) by 23.59 on Sunday 11th June 2023. The forms can be found in the candidate pack, along with all key dates.
