The Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) is one of the three Regional Assemblies in Ireland. Regional Assemblies play an important role in promoting and supporting balanced regional development and are tasked with a general competence to co-ordinate, promote and support strategic planning and sustainable development and to promote effectiveness in Local Government and public services in their regions.

0ne of the keys ways the assembly promotes and supports balanced regional development is through participation in the management of EU funded programmes e.g the Northern and Western Regional ERDF Programmes 2014-20 and 2021-27 and securing EU funding for specific regional projects. The Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) works with key stakeholders at EU, national, regional and local level to enable sustainable regional development.

A vacancy now exists in the Northern & Western Regional Assembly for the position of Assistant Director (Senior Executive Officer).

The Assistant Director position forms part of the senior management team for the Northern and Western Regional Assembly and on, initial appointment, will have responsibility for the 2021-2027 Northern and Western Regional ERDF Programme and the closure of the 2014-2020 Programme.

This post requires effective leadership and an ability to deliver all EU-related activities of the Assembly, notably the role of Managing Authority for the ERDF.

 

The ideal candidate shall:

    • be well educated;
    • have satisfactory experience in any discipline and satisfactory experience in the organisation and control of staff.
