The Department of the Taoiseach provides the Government, Taoiseach and Ministers of State at the Department with the support, policy advice and information necessary for the effective conduct of Government and for the dynamic leadership, coordination, and strategic direction of Government policy.  Its mission is to offer objective and evidence-informed advice to Government, respond to developments, and deliver Government objectives, while striving to achieve optimal outcomes in the long-term national interest, and to serve citizens and stakeholders efficiently, equally and with respect, in a system that is open, transparent and accountable. 

 

Corporate Services Division will bring together a number of core functions of the department in a unified divisional structure to support the Management Board and the department across its full range of responsibilities. The person appointed will be responsible for leading the Corporate Affairs functions including Human Resources, Finance, Facilities and IT, Departmental strategy and development, The Protocol Service of the Department and the management and development of the Government Information Service.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a range of skills and/or experience commensurate with the variety of areas of responsibility of the Corporate Services Division;
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the current Corporate strategic context and how the organisation can be most effectively supported at Corporate level into the future;
  • Be able to deliver an ongoing programme of corporate development for the Department, working with Management Board colleagues and across the Department more generally;
  • Have, or be capable of acquiring within a short period, a thorough knowledge and understanding of the unique operating environment of the Department of the Taoiseach;
  • Have senior level experience in developing vision and strategy and implementing change;
  • Have the capacity to lead, manage and motivate a diverse team across the range of areas of responsibility of the Division.

This is a Top Level Appointments Committee (TLAC) position.
