The Devonshire Group encompasses a significant number of businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, employing over 1,300 people and 170 volunteers. Locations include the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex. The Group also has some charitable interests.

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to lead our approach to nature conservation and environmental stewardship as the Head of Natural Capital. The Devonshire Group are fully committed to promoting sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship. The Head of Natural Capital will play a pivotal role in achieving this goal, by developing and implementing strategies that promote the conservation and sustainable use of the group’s natural resources.

As the Head of Natural Capital, you will work across the Group’s three estates, overseeing the development and execution of initiatives that promote and deliver the sustainable management of our natural resources. You will work closely with senior management and colleagues across the business to develop and implement the company's natural capital strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the group’s overall vision and goals. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and look to build the Group’s reputation in this area.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in natural capital management, ecology or conservation with a track record of success in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work cross functionally and with colleagues at all levels of an organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to natural resource management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and resources for natural capital projects.
  • Strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
