Job Description

The Group FD will enhance commercial decision making for the Group by managing the proactive provision of financial information and advice, internally and externally. Ensuring that the Group complies with all financial reporting obligations internally and externally (statutory compliance) by managing the finance functions, controls, capabilities, systems, and culture.

  • Managing the development, implementation and maintenance of management accounting processes, including procedures for financial management & controls.
  • Transform financial performance data into clear and insightful management packs for the wider business functions to include but not limited to operational teams and senior management.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely provision of all group Company financial accounts, statutory returns monthly accounts, budgets, tax computation and audits are carried out.
  • Manage & have oversight of Group treasury & liquidity by managing positioning of cash, tangible asset spend, creditor and debtors across the group, whilst ensuring acceptable stakeholder.
  • Implement a system and adequate reporting to manage liquidity across the group so that there are robust reports and systems in place for debt collection, cash management and timely accounts payable and receivable.
  • Provide oversight of all reporting from the team to ensure a high quality of reporting in maintained in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Lead, manage and support the Finance function to deliver the organisational goals and to realise its ambitions including the recruitment and development of staff.
  • Create a continuous improvement culture within the finance team to understand performance and seek efficiencies.

The Successful Applicant

You will be a qualified Accountant with a proven track record within a similar leadership finance role. Your background will ideally be within similar transformational roles and ideally an SME or owner managed environment where your role has been hands on, detail orientated and had continuous improvement at the heart of the role. There is a requirement to demonstrate political sensitivity and have empathy with and understanding of social care, specifically health and housing. Experience of both large corporate entities and entrepreneurial businesses would be advantageous.

You will have a collaborative and positive outlook and be comfortable working with diverse stakeholders delivering financial information with succinct and commercial delivery. You will have strong financial reporting skills and proven ability to deliver to tight deadlines and balance multiple objectives. You will have an analytical mindset and the ability to develop strategy and translate into achievable targets.

You will support the operational teams and the business in building financial understanding and competency with the objective to deliver profitable growth. You will have the ability to contribute to the strategic planning for the Group and identify new and innovative financial management and leadership approaches to enhance stakeholder experience and confidence.

Strong leadership, influencing and negotiation skills are essential as is the ability to build and maintain effective and positive working relationships both within and beyond the organisation. This role will be pivotal in developing and leading a successful and motivated finance team who can support the business and embed a positive culture.
