Role: Head of Technology

Location: Office in Central London (2-3 days in office per week)
Number of direct reports: 5-7
Salary: circa£(Apply online only)k DOE + bonus
Benefits: Pension, Private Medial, Life Assurance, Eye Care, Cycle2Work, Employee Assistance Programme, Season Ticket Loan, Bimonthly Lunch and more!

What makes this an interesting role:

You will have the flexibility and autonomy to make your own destiny! This isn't a slow-moving organisation with loads of rules and regulations, and they're committed to driving innovation.

There aren't any major problems that need solving, (for example, they don't need rescuing from serious technical debt), this will free up your time to focus on forward-facing challenges!

The projects you'll be leading have the potential to change their entire domain!

About the company:
The largest business in their field, this PE-backed company specialises in automating and digitising investment funds to drive efficiency and reduce cost. They have circa 200 employees and over 3,000 clients across the globe (they have presence in over 50 countries), handling over £190 billion in investments per month. Awarded top 1% Workplace Awards!

About the role:
They are a tech-driven business, so this is a critical role they're hiring for. You'll have ownership for their entire technology function which comprises of Software Engineering (circa 30-40 heads), Platform (circa 20 heads, includes Infrastructure & DevOps), and Data (circa 8-10 heads, includes DBAs, BIs).

Their tech team, whilst fairly new, is strong and in little need of micro-management. Your focus would be on getting the best out of them (playing on their strengths and coaching efficiency), creating a roadmap for new innovative products to achieve their strategic goals, and establishing clear targets to hit these delivery targets.

Tech stack:
They're a Microsoft house, using Azure Cloud and .Net for backend applications. UX / UI is written in Angular and they have new projects in TypeScript upcoming. They follow event-driven microservices as a model, with some legacy applications but not much. They've been researching blockchain for potential new projects, however they're committed to creating successful use-cases before launching into this fully.

About you:
Industry experience is key for this role, as we need someone who understands financial services terminologies well (capital markets, asset management, funds etc). Open to candidates who have worked in this world previously and since moved on.

You'll come from a deeply technical background, either engineering or architecture (we can't consider candidates from a pure infrastructure or project management background). Strong understanding of modern technologies and approaches is important, and any knowledge of how Blockchain can be implemented effectively (at a theoretical level) would be a bonus.

This is a hands-off position, and you'll be responsible for managing managers, so looking for someone who's lead structures like this previously. It's likely they'll continue to grow out their teams globally, so experience in managing / building out offshore capabilities would be sought after.

Next steps:
If this role sounds of interest, then please do get in touch. Even if you're concerned you don't "tick all the boxes", we'd be happy to chat to see if you could be a fit.

We have received a huge number of applications for this position already, so apologies if it takes some time getting back to you.

Thanks,
Annie
