You will be expected to think strategically about the future for City & Guilds, ensuring that we remain solvent and financially robust and identifying and managing risks. Some activities may involve scrutinising board and committee papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues affecting City & Guilds, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives and other issues in which the Trustee has experience.
The role requires the Trustee to spend the equivalent of two/three days a month on City & Guilds work after induction and will need to attend scheduled formal board meetings, committee meetings, yearly and bi-annual council meetings and other adhoc meetings.

Trustees will have a strong track record of achievements in environments that are changing their business models through disruptive innovation strategies. Whilst not essential, we would like you to have experience of working with charities or other not-for-profit organisations.
One of the Trustees will need to have senior leadership experience within commercial financial services, investment banking organisations of scale. They will need to have experience within the investment banking function (M&A) and of different ownership models which support investment. In addition they will need have a proven record of achievements in environments that are changing their business models through innovative strategies.
The other Trustee will again have experience at senior leadership level within a commercial organisation at scale but will need a track record of delivering transformational change to business processes and/or technologies. This Trustee will likely have worked as a COO/CDO/CPO or equivalent. Again they will need to have a proven track record of achievements in environments that are changing their industries through strategies.
Being a Trustee requires a significant commitment but also creates the opportunity of participating in very rewarding work.
