The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is the UK’s compensation scheme for financial services, helping people get back on track by protecting them when authorised financial services firms fail. FSCS is independent, covers all regulated financial services in the UK and is unique internationally for the scope of protection it provides. FSCS’s mission is to provide a trusted compensation service for consumers which raises public confidence in the financial services industry. The Scheme protects deposits in banks, building societies and credit unions; insurance, investments, investment and pension advice, home finance advice, funeral plans, debt management and related products.

The Role

The successful appointee will also chair the Audit Committee. This is an exciting and high-profile time to join FSCS. The Audit Committee Chair will help shape several strategic outcomes at a critical time for the UK financial services industry and its consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide constructive challenge and support to executive directors in their conduct of the business.
  • Play a governance and oversight role; monitor and challenge business activity and contribute to the development of strategy.
