Hybrid working model supported with 3-4 days onsite presence per week required

With the pending departure of the current post holder my client, a North East local authority is seeking an experienced Head of Children's Commissioning for an initial 6 month period to drive quality of commissioned service and partner engagement, in particular within the Corporate Parenting portfolio.

About your role as Head of Children's Commissioning:

You will lead a team of experienced commissioners and link in both strategic leaders within Children's Services and the Corporate centre to improve the quality of Cost, Compliance and Governance within Children's Social Care
Link in closely with the Corporate Parenting team to review and make recommendations as necessary for a revised Sufficiency Strategy
Foster effective relationship with providers to improve quality of contract performance and strategically contribute to the savings agenda (in particular high cost and out of borough placements)
Your required experience as Head of Commissioning:

Must hold experience to Head of Service level of equivalent in a commissioning role
Robust knowledge of children's services commissioning processes
Must have worked both in Children's social care but within an agile and changing landscape with a flexible and dynamic approach to leadership
Must be a solid communication with great relationship building abilities
Good negotiator and ability to operate in a solutions focused role supporting the championing of Restorative practice across the wider directorate
