The GPA  (Government Property Agency) delivers property and workplace solutions across Government and is helping to transform the way the Civil Service works. The GPA is a rapidly growing organisation with income in excess of £1.1bn and assets of over £1.7bn. An asset manager, landlord, service provider and strategic property advisor, the GPA is an enabler for further transformation and for realising the Government’s priorities for regional growth across the Country. Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Government estate has drawn together a team from across the public and commercial sectors who are driving this change. Whilst proud to be civil servants, it feels more like a commercial real estate company with the commercial expertise and insight into the Government’s central estate to help clients meet their strategic goals and using Government’s strength to secure the best deals. The CFO Directorate has a key role to play in the delivery of these goals.

The Deputy Director Property Investment reports to the CFO and will bring significant experience of working with large scale, complex capital programmes, partnering with external stakeholders to manage costs and deliver value. You’ll have gained considerable exposure to investment in the property and real estate sector across development, asset management and value-led commercial property investment appraisals. You’ll have the credibility and presence to work with the Investment Committee and have the analytical clarity to ensure the delivery of benefits in line with approved business cases and experience of supporting commercial property transactions.

As well as being professionally qualified and technically skilled, the post holder will provide inspirational leadership across the Finance landscape. You will lead and inspire a small team to deliver best real estate finance services. As a key member of the Finance Senior Leadership team, you will be responsible for contributing to GPA’s financial strategy working with HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office. You’ll also need a strong customer service ethos and the appetite to work corporately and with key stakeholders.

With a 3-year SR21 settlement of around £1bn weighted towards Capital Investment, this is an exciting time to join a growing organisation at the forefront of delivery of better places to work for Civil Servants through an ambitious programme of new office hubs and building refurbishments. You’ll relish the opportunity to work and influence at scale as you ensure that the GPA is supported by a high quality, efficient and effective real estate finance capability that assesses, understands and anticipates strategic direction, business need and risks, while being sufficiently dynamic to be able to respond to changes in business and government direction as well as legislative changes.
