Finance Director - REMOTE

Summary of Role

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and drive the company's financial strategy and planning. Assessing the financial performance of the company as well as possible risks and investments, guiding the company towards profitability & long-term success

- Create long-term finance department strategic plans which align with company's strategic plan and business plan.

- To provide regular and timely financial forecasts taking full accountability for the inputs.

- Lead on financial modelling for new business opportunities.

- Develop timely and effective reporting on both the financial and non-financial performance for the organisation, focusing on future out-turn and re-forecasting not just historic activity.

- Ensure that a positive and proactive culture is maintained in respect of health, environment, and safety and that the letter and the spirit of all statutory obligations are met.

Passionate

- Develop a clear month-end process and be accountable for the delivery of timely management accounts each month and re-forecasts every quarter.

- Hold budget holders to account for financial performance, income and expenditure, along with budget under and over-spend.

- Establish and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accounts.

- Create and execute the business investment strategy, monitoring and adjusting for risk when necessary.

- Ensure impeccable and detailed financial records are maintained, overseeing taxes and records are filed correctly and to government standards.

- Lead the development of analytical modelling by determining operational objectives through effective collaboration with all business functions, gathering information and evaluating output requirement and formats.

- Manage the financial team including coaching and developing employees and teams for a more effective skill set and work environment.

- Lead on the interpretation & implementation of ESFA or equivalent funding guidance, ensuring internal policy, process & paperwork enables compliance requirements are met.

- Maintains excellent knowledge of laws and regulations that may affect the Companies policies or practices, implementing swift necessary changes.

Essential Qualifications

Grade A-C GCSE in English and maths or equivalent

Qualified Accountant

Skills and experience

Experience of working within the Further Education Sector

Experience of managing a successful finance function including setting financial strategy

Experience of having active involvement in external government funded audits, predominately for Apprenticeships

Experience of interpreting DSAT, other government and internal compliance reports

Experience of delivering excellence through the delivery of exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers

Experience of planning and delivering of timely communications that make an impact to the business

Experience and awareness of businesses competitive position by being aware of the market and industry trends, whist still ensuring compliance with external requirements are met

Ability to understand and interpret ESFA funding rules and reports

Ability to form positive, professional and trusting relationships to deliver against business objectives.

Ability to embrace and demonstrate both organisational and sector change to support and sponsor change, helping others to successfully manage it too.

Ability to understand what makes a business or organisation successful and how your actions can impact on the success of the business.
