A Head of Data and Automation is required for an exciting opportunity that will be instrumental in driving our clients strategic use of data. You will support a cultural transformation while establishing the skills, technology, and processes to enable the business to maximise the value of data across the whole global business. We are seeking candidates that have experience at leadership level and have experience of carrying out a cultural shift of data within a business.

The role is a permanent opportunity that will work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days per week on site in Cheltenham.

As Head of Data and Automation you will collaborate cross-functionally, working to identify the critical insight required across the business to support the business strategy and growth plans, addressing gaps while highlighting new opportunities from data, data science, machine learning and automation.

As data becomes an increasing asset and a source of insight supporting all key decisions, the Head of Data and Automation, will put in place the tools, governance, controls, and policies, ensuring its quality and security.

The role will establish the overall data strategy for putting in place the skills, resources, and technology changes to deliver against this.

We are looking for;

  • An experienced Data Leader
  • Experienced in developing cultural change programmes to promote and develop the role of data skills and data based decisioning
  • Able to set vision and goals for advancing the role of data in organisations, communicating this effectively to the teams and engaging them in the journey
  • An individual with strong analytical skills, able to analyse data at a strategic level, identifying its fit and value and any gaps against the business goals and prioritising the right areas to address
  • Adept at stakeholder management, influencing and agreeing objectives, priorities and setting expectations
  • Pro-active in identification of opportunities to improve the business outcomes
  • Knowledgeable of relevant and up to date data technologies, and ideally have strong experience in Machine Learning, Data Science and Automation, both the technology and opportunities
  • An individual with strong background in key Brand/Retail based data challenges eg Customer data, forecasting, retail and E-commerce performance, digital marketing performance
  • A leader with the ability to communicate strategy, set clear objectives, developing a performance culture and able to coach, develop and nurture a team to achieve their full potential
  • Able to communicate and engage effectively at all levels including Executive and Board
  • A servant leader, passionate about empowering teams to deliver the outcomes by giving them clear goals and measures of success
  • A strong collaborator, able to work across functions, inside and outside of Technology to address dependencies, risks and issues and deliver the optimum outcome for all
  • A strategic thinker, with an ability to look at and shape the big picture, but also able identify short-term action for quick wins
  • Strong at critical reasoning, able to quickly assess proposals, options and recommend direction
  • Commercial, able to create and manage budgets, build and challenge investment cases and identify opportunities to reduce cost and increase revenue and profit
  • Skilled at creating and managing relationships with 3rd parties and external organisations to deliver business outcomes, including appropriate negotiation skills
