The Role

Risk & Compliance Oversight (R&CO) is the FCA’s second line of defence. This Division works in partnership with Senior Management, members of the Board and colleagues across the organisation to mitigate the internal and external risks to the FCA’s strategy and business plan and, hence, its statutory and operational objectives.

This is a unique opportunity at an exciting time to join the FCA. The Director will be an advocate for best-practice risk management throughout the organisation. They will be responsible for championing risk at the most senior levels across the whole of the FCA and more widely. Reporting to the Executive Director of Risk and Compliance Oversight, they will be pivotal in helping the FCA to continuously improve and enhance its approach to risk management and compliance.

The Director of Risk Advisory & Framework will:

  • Design, implement and maintain the organisation’s risk management framework.
  • Provide clear, accurate, holistic risk and compliance-based advice, guidance, and oversight to the organisation, including attendance at relevant committees and other forums.
  • Maintain an appropriate compliance monitoring function and provision of the organisation’s control room

The Individual:

This is a high-profile role, which will require frequent liaison with the executive committee, the Board and its sub-committees, key regulatory partners, and other relevant external stakeholders. Prospective candidates will demonstrate:

  •  The ability to lead a risk function through a significant transformation and change  
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills in addition to technical risk proficiency across all risk disciplines
  • Judgement, impact, influencing capability and the credibility to gain the respect and trust of experienced leaders across the FCA.
