Our large public sector client are recruiting for a Head of Data.

Our client are looking for an interim Head of Data to join our Senior Leadership Team. You will develop, embed and maintain our clients data strategy and an effective data governance framework. The main priority will be to establish a project to review risks around data management and implement a plan to mitigate any risks. In addition to building and leading a project team, you will lead our clients highly technical data team and data project workstreams to develop a high performing team and culture to support the organisation in leveraging our data capability as a strategic asset.

Essential:

Data and analytical experience. An advanced degree in an analytical/data field and/or 5 years professional experience in the data sector. Experience of working with financial sector/pension/government data and demonstrable experience of applying theory and best practice in data management. Exceptional knowledge of the data sector and how it is transforming, data management, quality assurance mechanisms, data governance and records management.

Collaboration and influence: You will be an effective relationship builder, with a proven track record of influencing effectively at all levels, including in environments where there are partnerships with competing/conflicting priorities. Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the effective maintenance, control, and governance of data. You can manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions about high risk and complexity even within constrained timescales.

Strategic focus: Experience in defining and implementing strategy, policy and process for information management and records management, against corporate objectives. You will have experience of setting direction for data work programmes which directly support strategic organisational objectives, working across boundaries so that the right people are involved to deliver. Capability to ensure that the data strategy remains relevant to the business, is aligned to the data sector and enables the best use of data whilst complying with all necessary regulations.

Project and Programme Management. Demonstrable experience of programme/project management and methodology. Experience on project boards, leading projects, and collaborating in transformation programmes. You know how to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices

People Leadership: You will be an engaging, open leader and people manager committed to building capability, coaching, and developing diverse staff groups to be high performing teams. You can solve and unblock issues within teams or departments. You understand the psychology of a team and have strong mediation skills.
