Exciting opportunity to use your business and financial analysis skills in the Remedies, Business and Financial Analysis group at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to provide commercial analysis and insight across the CMA’s casework and play a key role supporting our mission to make markets work well for consumers, businesses and the UK economy.
The Remedies, Business and Financial Analysis professional group provides business and financial analysis and designs remedies and applies professional expertise to contribute to our mission. As a Business and Financial Adviser, you will be responsible for understanding businesses and gathering, analysing, interpreting and presenting good quality financial information to support our investigations and play an important role finding effective solutions to the problems we find. This will include:
- Looking at a wide range of markets to understand business strategies and how these can harm competition and generate negative consumer outcomes
- Providing clear and compelling advice and analysis to CMA decision-makers
- Developing remedies that will benefit consumers when harmful competitive effects are identified
- Ensuring that analysis is well thought through and accurate through the review and development of audit trails
- Applying your commercial expertise to influence the team’s assessment of financial and business performance
To be considered for this role you will need a degree and/or a postgraduate business, finance or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CFA or MBA) or equivalent experience, along with relevant analytical and interpretive experience, including an understanding of business models in different industries.
You will also be able to use sound judgement, evidence and knowledge to provide accurate, expert, justified and professional advice.
