The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for identifying ways to increase the use of BI within the firm, designing end-to-end business intelligence and analytical solutions that provide insights and information for key decision makers. Striking a balance between strategic deliveries and tactical solutions to enable faster business decision making whilst maintaining tech debts.

Client Details

Our Global client is a growing Asset Management business that provides clients with high quality long-term investment capabilities managed by independent, specialist teams. With circa 1,000 employees, they are growing their data engineering function with the aim of getting the most from their data.

The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for identifying ways to increase the use of BI within the firm, designing end-to-end business intelligence and analytical solutions that provide insights and information for key decision makers. Striking a balance between strategic deliveries and tactical solutions to enable faster business decision making whilst maintaining tech debts.

The role forms part of the Global Data function, which is responsible for the global governance of data, management of enterprise data platforms and delivery of business intelligence. With respect to data analytics, the team ensures data is turned to information that meets the needs of the firm and our clients.

With a strong knowledge of the investment data domain and data visualisation technologies, this role manages relationships with a broad representation of data users to build reporting that provides a more complete narrative of business performance. Anticipating future data needs of the firm, it also contributes to the continued planning and development of the enterprise data architecture, unifying data environments globally and ensuring internal and external data sources are appropriately captured, joined and made available for decision support.

Description

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to capture information requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient business intelligence solutions and manage expectations.
  • Analyse business processes and systems to identify opportunities and anticipate change issues.
  • Provide a seamless experience with data by actively managing service channels and deliveries.
  • Implement emerging data analytics technologies and enrich data assets to create new insights to business performance, investment performance and other market influences.
  • Support business-driven analytical projects to automate processes and make smarter decisions with data.
  • Nurture data community with data analysts/SMEs and exercise thought leadership, share knowledge, provide support/training and drive opportunities for innovation.
  • Assess the effectiveness of deployed solutions and provide technical leadership to ensure maturation of business intelligence within the firm.
  • Develop management and operational business intelligence, including scheduled and parameterised reporting, data models, ETL design, and other BI applications.
  • Document the configuration of systems and implement data solutions to improve data governance outcomes.

Profile

  • An experienced manager in the field of Business Intelligence of Data Engineering.
  • Demonstrated data analytics development and business partnering experience.
  • Experience in the global asset management industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing business intelligence solutions.
  • Exposure to the global asset management industry, preferably with a working knowledge of the investment process and data domain.
  • Strong understanding of the investment data domain and key systems.
  • Expert competence with business intelligence software e.g. Power BI, Tableau.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud data warehousing e.g. Snowflake.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and data analysis languages e.g. Python, R.
  • Working knowledge of peripheral software and technologies e.g. HTML, D3JS, Power Platform.
  • Demonstrated experience with data modelling e.g. Data Vault, Star, 3NF.
  • Troubleshooting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
