The Company
- Sateba Stanton Precast is a leading UK manufacturer of precast concrete drainage products, for customers in the construction industry. Located in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, on a 65-acre site, this is a well-known business, with a strong brand recognition in its market.
- The plant, which is non-unionised, splits its activities into two areas: Core Business – supplying precast concrete drainage solutions, typically to customers in the housing, highways and infrastructure markets; and Green Tunnels – supplying precast tunnel solutions for the HS2 rail infrastructure programme.
- Due to an internal restructuring, they are now seeking a new manufacturing operations leader to head its Core Business operations. With annual sales of c. £30m, and 160 employees, this is a cash generative and profitable business, which is also well-positioned to expand its offering to supply major infrastructure projects in the rail, highways, and airports sectors, in the future.
The Role
- Reporting to the Managing Director, your role is to ensure the plant delivers its optimum production and safety performance, whilst enabling a proactive and effective engineering strategy through the development of its maintenance and reliability processes.
- Responsible for coaching and developing your management team, you will need to build a close and successful relationship with the site’s leadership group - especially the commercial function - to ensure there is direct correlation between the demand and supply activities of the business.
- The role will enjoy significant autonomy, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significantly positive contribution to the business.
The Candidate
- This is a role for an experienced manufacturing operations leader from the Heavy Industry, Construction Materials, or Process Industries sectors, with a track record of leading a manufacturing plant of scale and educated to degree standard in a relevant technical discipline.
- A true people developer, you will have successfully led a programme of investment and modernisation to improve a site’s safety, production, and commercial performance. Driving OEE performance will be a particular feature of the role and will require a strong appreciation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
- You will be someone who ‘makes things happen’ with the necessary drive and communications skills, as well as the leadership qualities to develop and lead a high performing management team.
