Commercial Director - Solar and Battery, Flexible UK and Ireland. Salary range 96,000 - 144,000 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + range of benefits

This is an exciting new opportunity within the growing solar and battery team of a leading distributed energy and private networks business who finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial, public sector, and residential customers.

It s a challenging and rewarding role and we are looking for candidates with the commercial acumen, tenacity, and motivation to succeed in the complex and emerging environment of Solar & Battery solutions.

The role

Director of Commercial will lead the Solar & Battery commercial team and sit on the business units leadership team. The role reports jointly to the functional Commercial Director and to the managing Director of the Business Unit.

You will be accountable for leading commercial activity for the Solar & Battery business: deliver the full potential of company s assets while continually reviewing and developing the commercial function including pre-contract, commercial modelling, supply chain, delivery and asset operation.

You will be responsible for developing and supporting opportunities to maximise the earning potential and you will help deliver gross profit budgets for the business.

Key responsibilities

Developing a safety culture that will constructively challenge unsafe behaviour and publicise positive behaviour and ensure that the company s Safety culture is embedded within the Commercial function.
Assessing and supporting the Commercial risk and opportunity of all acquisitions, projects, and supplier contracts and ensuring they are managed through contracts; and for observing and complying with company s Standard Operating Procedures and division s governance processes.
You will lead, engage, develop and manage the team in order to deliver the business plan whilst also leading all commercial activities and implement commercial strategies across the business to ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated and that commercial success is achieved.
You will work closely with Procurement to manage and secure successful supply chains, and use pre and post commercial experience together with commercial modelling resources to ensure the correct projects are taken effectively through governance to asset construction and ownership.
You will oversee the production and maintenance of accurate project and business unit risk and opportunity review schedules, ensuring buy in and input of key disciplines and stakeholders.

Essential requirements

A Degree or Masters or equivalent qualified in relevant subject or equivalent proven experience.
Strong entrepreneurial skills and a natural ability to spot opportunities for revenue generation.
Leadership skills and experience of managing a team.
A track record of experience of managing a team and working alongside a leadership team in a fast paced and developing market.
Experience of energy markets and infrastructure development business.
Significant commercial skills and experience across the functions including supply chain, contractual structures and negotiation, operations, market and regulatory value and risk.
Experience managing stakeholders.
Experience in constructing / negotiating partnering arrangements. You will be accountable for ensuring the commercial strategic plan is fit-for-purpose against company's overall business objectives and risk appetite.
Experience of M&A, due diligence and merger integration.

Remuneration

Salary range 96,000 - 144,000 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + nice benefits
