The CFO Practice has been retained to recruit the Finance Director for Patch, an exciting, high-growth Series A-backed business with a high-profile investor portfolio. The business concept was formed six months into the Pandemic with a vision for people to 'Work Near Home', a world where life and work are in concert, not competition.

The company's mission is to empower millions of people to work near what matters to them by building a national network of community-led, Work Near Home co-working clubs. The company has raised circa £3M in their latest fund round, with the longer-term ambition to grow to 250 co-working clubs across the UK in the next 5 years.

The company is hiring the first person in finance, a critical hire that will form part of the leadership team. The Finance Director will bring the accounting function in-house and implement first-class financial processes while working directly with the founding team to support the business's scale and growth. You will be responsible for developing finance, but your overall remit will go far beyond just traditional accounting.

As Finance Director, your remit will be broad and develop with the growth of the business. Likely responsibilities will include:
  • You know what good looks like and are eager to help roll out best practices without creating an excessive admin burden in a high-growth start-up
  • Take responsibility for developing the reporting, controls and financial framework that will enable the business to scale effectively in the future
  • You will have a curious mind and want to drive insights into KPIs, variance analysis, and the narrative around why results are what they are, along with calls to action where appropriate
  • Your role will play a crucial part as a business advisor on a range of commercial activities:

o Developing and owning the capital and operational expenditure models

o Supporting future fundraising rounds

o Providing future direction on the equity and debt structure

o Working with the CEO and founding team on a comprehensive range of ad-hoc projects

o Represent finance and directly engage with investors and external advisors

What we're looking for
  • We're very open-minded on education and background, but we expect you will be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience, ideally having worked within a start-up or scale-up environment.
