We are looking for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation with a turnover of circa £7million and a staff team of some 250 people, of whom approximately 200 are current students at the University working part-time in our shops, bars, catering outlets and front-facing services.

A Students' Union plays a special role in supporting and adding to every student's university experience. Our vision is that every student loves their time at Southampton. There are four main ways that SUSU does this:

Representation - ensuring that students have a voice in their educational experience
Activities - facilitating opportunities for students to build friendships and communities and pursue their interests and hobbies
Social Enterprise - providing a range of products, spaces and events to students - from a meal deal in the shop to a memorable night out in our venues
Support - offering independent advice on academic, financial, and housing matters and a safe, sustainable and inclusive campus experience

Ideal candidates will have substantial leadership and management experience, including at a senior level in a complex organisation. They will have a proven track record of successful financial management, including substantial budgets and business planning, and of leading multi-disciplinary teams. They will have proven experience of formulation and delivery of strategic plans, objectives, and policies. It is essential that our new Chief Executive Officer has a demonstrable record of forging partnerships and engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.

Our new Chief Executive Officer will work with the Board of Trustees to ensure the effective governance and leadership of our organisation, while developing and maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with University stakeholders and other strategic partners locally and nationally. They will work with a team of Senior Leaders to lead the development and implementation of the overarching strategy, supporting strategies, and operational plans.
