IT Director - Financial Services - Home Loans and Mortgages
£100k-£140k+ excellent benefits, Central London or Brighton - with hybrid remote working available.
Our client is a financial services sector innovator in the home loans and mortgages market. As part of continued growth of the business an opportunity has now emerged for a IT Director to join the business to provide direction to the IT and technology function of the business.
The newly-appointed IT Director will manage IT teams, consisting of development, technology operations & support, technology solutions, BI & analytics and infrastructure / desktop support. IT Director will represent IT and technology at board level and has excellent potential to develop into a full CTO role dependent upon success in this role.
The IT Director should ideally have experience of working within an Agile methodology environment, be capable of providing stable IT services within a highly demanding financial services environment and be able to manage IT teams, budgets and departmental issues.
A further element is that the IT Director will need to lead migration to a new Target Operating Model for technology operations and deliver improvements in the use of IT and infrastructure as the business continues to grow.
Deliverables & Responsibilities:
• Leadership of 4 teams (16 FTE): Software Development / Technology Operations / Business Intelligence and Analytics & Technology Solutions.
• Management of a £1.5-2m budget
• Develop a new Target Operating Model for Technology Operations
• Deliver enhanced security posture, SoC, vulnerability scanning, perimeter security.
• Lead Agile transformation of all technical teams, resulting in quicker delivery and more transparent delivery.
• Deliver Various improvements to reporting infrastructure to support regulatory and financial reporting.
• Increase and upskill the technology headcount to provide better technology operations, more aligned to the needs of the business.
• Search engine optimised web site portal development.
Further background to the vacancy:
The IT Director role is a newly created position and will have a fully-fledged seat on the Board of Directors. The IT department is currently partially in-house and partially outsourced. The aim is to bring all IT in-house to create a proper, responsive IT function for the business. IT currently falls under the remit of the Finance Director, however the aim is to migrate IT to become a proper business function, headed by the newly appointed IT Director.
Future scope for the role:
The client envisages that this role will ultimately evolve over time into a Chief Technology Officer role. In the shorter term, the IT Director will need to lead technology renewal and innovation, particularly as the business prepares to move to a 'hybrid' working environment of probably 50/50 working from home and from the office.
* Deliver technology renewal across the business, migrating both office and home working users to O365 and Azure, along with AV integration.
* Manage the transition process to bring currently 'outsourced' IT back in house to improve the quality and overall user perception of IT service provision.
Candidate requirement:
* We seek an experienced IT Manager / Head of IT or IT Director
* Must have at least 3 years experience in an IT management capacity
* A strong business technologist, able to bridge the gap between IT and the business
* Able to build strong and responsive IT teams
