My Space Housing Solutions provides Specialised Supported Housing to some of the most vulnerable people in society, supporting and enabling them to live independently.
We put people at the heart of everything we do, and are unique in that we provide housing when all other opportunities have been exhausted. We lead the way in improving lives, creating opportunities and supporting people to achieve great things
Our approach means vulnerable people can live in good homes with the necessary support, but also puts them on the path to improving their wellbeing, integrating with their communities and living independently.
Purpose of the role
To work constructively with other Board Members and My Space employees to achieve excellent standards of governance and to ensure that the objectives of My Space are achieved.That My Space is managed and controlled appropriately and maintains its financial viability; is accountable to its stakeholders; and that My Space works within the requirements of the law, regulation and its funding bodies.
To act in the best interests of the Board and My Space at all times.
Overall Responsibilities
Setting and ensuring compliance with the values, mission and strategic objectives of My Space, ensuring its long-term success
Setting a positive culture with a strong customer focus
Providing oversight, direction and constructive challenge to My Spaces Chief Executive and executive team
The appointment and, if necessary, dismissal of the Chief Executive
Being satisfied as to the integrity of financial information, approving each years budget, financial plan and annual accounts prior to publications
Establishing, overseeing and reviewing frameworks: Delegation and systems of internal control, Statutory and regulatory compliance and Risk management and assurance
Establish policies to achieve My Space plans and objectives.
To promote the accountability of My Space through openness and work in partnership with communities, representative bodies and strategic authorities / agencies.
To work collectively with other Board Members to ensure that the Board fulfils its role under the current Terms of Reference.
Participating in an individual performance appraisal and in Board effectiveness reviews
Please note the Board Members may be required to serve on or chair a Board Committee or working group, relevant to their skills and experience. Board Members may also be required, from time to time, to participate in employment functions such as the appraisal of Executive Team members and appeals committees.
