The FCA ensures that financial markets work well for individuals, for businesses and for the economy as a whole. The FCA has core objectives to protect consumers, protect and enhance the market integrity of the UK financial system and promote competition. Its role is critical in the current economic context.

Exciting opportunities have arisen for new Heads of Department to join the FCA, playing key leadership roles at an important time of change for the FCA. The organisation is driving forward organisational, people, process and technology transformation to become a more proactive regulator and one that remains leading internationally.

Opportunities:

Specifically, the FCA is looking to appoint three Heads of Department as senior leaders within the newly formed Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy (CCPS) Directorate. This Directorate, part of Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC), will be a centre of excellence for policymaking. It will drive policy delivery across a diverse and high-profile portfolio of policies that touch on the full breadth of the markets that the FCA regulates and impact on the lives of all UK consumers. This could include pivotal areas such as the FCA’s work on improving outcomes for vulnerable consumers, redress, and the response to the cost-of-living crisis. There has never been a more important time to play a leading role in shaping FCA policy in these vital areas.

As a Head of Department, you will be a member of the FCA’s broader Senior Leadership Team (SLT). You will lead and grow a team of dynamic, committed and purpose driven colleagues. You will influence and engage at senior levels across the FCA, and externally with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.

Individuals:

Successful candidates will bring:

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inclusively lead groups of talented individuals with varied backgrounds through change in a motivating and outcomes-focused environment.
  • Significant policy or strategy experience gained at a senior level with a track record of overseeing complex strategic issues through to successful outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at senior levels across diverse stakeholder groups. This could include with government, regulators, trade associations, industry, and consumer organisations.

The FCA particularly welcomes applications from women, disabled and minority ethnic candidates, as under-represented groups.

The FCA is recruiting flexibly for these roles, with portfolios adjusted depending on the skills, experience, and interests of the successful candidates. For further information on this process, or to apply, please visit www.odgers.com/86717 Applications close 23:55 on Monday 29th August 2022.
