Job Details

Communicate have partnered with a global FMCG business on their Head of Accounting & Controls hire. This is a newly created post, following a period of successful M&A activity, rapid organic growth and a niche product range.

The organisation operates as a standalone business unit of a much larger, branded manufacturer and this individual will be the most senior UK-based finance lead. Reporting into the Group CFO, the chosen candidate will be responsible for building out a team from the ground up and acting as a true deputy.

While this is an end-to-end role, with oversight over all aspects of finance, this position has a heavy focus on Accounting, Controls and Taxation reporting. As such, we will be seeking individuals with a strong Audit and Financial Reporting background. You will ideally be a Senior Finance Manager / Head of Accounting who is looking to take a step up into a broad finance role with significant autonomy and responsibility; ultimately, you’ll be the lead on professionalising finance.

Currently managing a team of one (with 6-7 indirect reports), the chosen candidate will be expected and eager to roll up their sleeves in an incredibly fast growing organisation.

Due to the nature of the role, and the maturity of the finance function, we will be looking for candidate who are happy to work in their London based offices 4-5 days a week. In return, you will be working with an ambitious, people-focused team and business.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • ACA (ideally Big 4 or Top 10) qualified
  • Strong Accounting, Reporting & Controls background
  • Ideally some relevant sector experience within the FMCG/Retail/Distribution space
  • A culture champion, who is eager to build out a first class finance function
  • Comfortable with some international travel

Company

Communicate stands for excellence, entrepreneurialism and delivery.

Our aim is simple: to source and place the best candidates within timeframes which surpass those of other recruitment businesses. With 32% of placements made this year being at FTSE 100 companies, we feel we are living up to our aspirations.

Specialising in the placement of permanent and interim candidates for many of the world’s best companies, Communicate has earned an excellent reputation for providing fast and effective recruitment on a retained or contingent basis, without ever compromising quality. Indeed, despite the market average for finding new opportunities through word-of-mouth being just 18%*, this year, 67% of the placements made so far have been agency network, referred or headhunted candidates.

In addition, we are thought leaders, regularly appearing in national, regional and trade publications.

We are also market leaders. Our pioneering product – the Communicate Contingent Retainer – guarantees we fill vacancies within six weeks or refund all payments, in full, immediately. This means positions are filled with exceptional candidates at four times the speed of the industry standard and clients are not exposed to the 20% risk of paying for a service they do not receive, as is typical with most of our competitors’ retained assignments.

*Survey data collected from conversations with our leading clients in 2012 on sourcing candidates.
