The FCA ensures that financial markets work well for individuals, for businesses and for the economy as a whole. The FCA has core objectives to protect consumers, protect and enhance the market integrity of the UK financial system and promote competition. Its role is critical in the current economic context.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important leadership role at the heart of the FCA’s transformation. As Head of the Portfolio Management Unit, you will be accountable for developing an independent portfolio office that oversees the governance and assurance of diverse and mission critical change and strategic initiatives spanning across the entire remit of the FCA. The successful oversight of this Portfolio Management Unit is integral to the FCA delivering on its strategic objectives with a view to improving outcomes for consumers across the UK.

As a Head of Department, you will be a member of the FCA’s broader Senior Leadership Team (SLT). You will lead and grow a team of dynamic, committed and purpose driven colleagues. You will influence and engage at senior levels across the FCA, with a critical role to advise and support the Executive Finance & Delivery Committee which takes decisions on delivery and spending and provides assurance to the Executive Committee and Board.

As Head of the Portfolio Management Unit, you will bring:

  • Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of developing and motivating high performing colleagues through change in an inclusive environment. Significant experience of programme and portfolio management in a large, complex organisation undergoing transformation (this could be gained in a variety of sectors). Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at senior levels.
