As the Chemical Buyer you will be responsible for strategically sourcing raw materials and managing a global supply base within a highly successful chemical business.

I've exclusively partnered with a successful chemical manufacturing business with a global presence. Based in Runcorn, the newly created role of Chemical Buyer will help drive the business and several products forward.

Description

The Chemical Buyer will have the following responsibilities;

• Fully manage a portfolio of Raw Materials and products for resale (PFR).
• Sourcing and approval of alternative raw materials and/or suppliers.
• Develop an excellent understanding of the markets for the raw materials and PFR within your responsibility.
• Work with Sales Team to provide support for new tenders and current business opportunities.
• Work with relevant personnel from other teams/departments as appropriate to obtain forecasts for suppliers on a quarterly basis and adjust to new information in a timely manner
• Participate and contribute to New Product Development (NPD) projects.
• Supplier relationship and performance management.
• Resolution of any supplier issues and investigation of supplier complaints when needed.
• Risk management and reduction.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
• Manage tenders and support Purchasing Managers in the tendering process.
• Work with Accounts Payable to ensure prompt resolution of invoice queries as required.
• AX updates, including supplier set up, and price updates as necessary.
• Provide support to Buyers, Purchasing Manager, and Purchasing and Supply Chain Director as required.

Profile

The successful candidate for the Chemical Buyer role will ideally have the following key skills and qualities;

• Significant experience in a similar role in a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in a strategic sourcing role
• Strong supplier & contract management experience
• Proven track record for delivering results.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, and multi-task.
• Good analytical and reporting skills.
• Flexible, pragmatic, independent and deadline focused.
• An experienced and effective negotiator.
• High level IT skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and SAP desirable.
• MCIPS qualified / willingness to follow MCIPS qualifications.

Job Offer

• £40,000 - £45,000
