Job Details

The role of the Bid Writer is to source, collate, write, and win high-value, new and retained, tenders for whilst simultaneously raising the organisations profile via exceptionally high-quality tender submissions.

Global software organisation with offices in Manchester, this role will be predominantly remote

Description

You will professionally tailor tender responses to the requirements of each individual client through the use of extensive market intelligence research, liaison with internal and external key stakeholders, and project management of the end-to-end bid process, within a pressurised, driven, and results oriented working environment.

The Bid Writer will be based out of the organisation's Manchester office, but has a high degree of flexibility, so will be predominantly remote.

They are responsible for creating compelling business winning documentation to an exceptionally high standard, as well as:

Ensure the accuracy and precision of each tender and there is no margin for error, as the organisation is legally bound by everything set out within the bid.

Gather technical data from internal departments and operational teams such as Services, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and the wider Legal team, interpret data into layman's terms in order to construct compelling and readable text and ensure that visionary and bespoke solutions are offered to clients.

Responsible for the sense-checking and proofreading of all created materials, and the work of other teammates.

Responsible for ensuring tenders are submitted consistently ahead of the deadlines set by the tendering authority.

Produce bids on products and services, from core services through to partner led solutions.

Provide constructive criticism around areas that may need adjustment, work together with appropriate parties to ensure submissions of the highest standard are achieved.

Demonstrate technical and commercial writing skills; displaying a creative flair in tender submissions and produce costing information in order to help the Bid team in making decisions.

Contribute relevant ideas for developing tender submissions to their advantage (e.g., assisting the Marketing team in the creation of sales focussed literature, from sound market research, in order to accurately portray their strengths over its direct competitors).

Proactively initiate the creation of company literature to ensure they are in line with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines, work alongside relevant departments to create policies, charters, and marketing material in a time sensitive manner.

Investigate the marketplace to enable positive comparison with competitors and ensure full compliance with the current legislative procedures, as well as to develop and keep up to date with the Public Sector formal OJEU tendering processes, and ensure all bids are deemed compliant by the tendering authority in relation to the strict guidelines imposed for public sector procurement.

Receive and deal with extensive enquiries from teammates and clients concerning tenders both current and historic.

Objectively appraise tender submissions; add and edit information as necessary in order to structure effective responses.

Plan the key stages of individual tender projects, allocate appropriate deadlines with follow ups, and ensure deadlines are adhered to both within and outside the Public Sector Business Development team.

Supply leadership with relevant research and market intelligence information, guide relevant strategy and pricing proposals and contribute to meetings involving leadership and management.

Contribute, as part of the team, to the in-depth analysis of the prospects key drivers and provide appropriate discriminators in order to add value and supply the most competitive and compliant bid.

Profile

The successful Bid Writer will need to hold a relevant professional qualification and or accreditation Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent work experience High level of written and spoken English

You can be based anywhere in the UK, but must be willing and able to attend meetings in the office in Manchester

You must have previous experience working in public sector procurement and contract management

Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)

Holds relevant professional Project Management qualification and or accreditation (such as PRINCE2, PMI)

Experience of writing and delivering successful tenders

Demonstrates strong writing skills and the ability to construct high quality, complex narratives and convey complex ideas simply and clearly

Ability to communicate and convey complex issues, and write in an accessible and engaging manner

Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to negotiate, influence and generate confidence, trust, and respect

Ability to interpret and analyse complex information from a range of sources and present in a succinct and compelling way

Knowledge and understanding of an outcomebased approach to measuring and monitoring performance

Team and action oriented; proactive in prioritising own workload and assigned areas of responsibility to others

Excellent communication and project management skills to manage clients and partners and gather deliverables from a range of internal and external stakeholders
