Role: Service Management Configuration Manager - DV Cleared

Location: Corsham (Hybrid Working arrangements are possible for this post in agreement with local management (task dependent) and discussion at interview.)

Rate: GBP649.89/day (Umbrella)

Duration: 9 Months

Security Clearance: Active DV essential & Sole UK national

Personnel in the Above Secret Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM)/Knowledge Management (KM) role will be responsible for building and delivering the Defence Digital SACM Processes, and for managing and maintaining the tooling upon which the DD SACM Process depends. The core focus of the role is to support delivery of the DD SIAM vision through Operational Service Management (OSM) and Service Centre capability, and provision of an accurate and current Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Key Responsibilities:

This post may conduct management activity across the following areas:

  • Support the MSP and AS process Manager and SACM Process Owner with OSM Programme SACM Process development and delivery;
  • Act as the focal point within the AS Ops team to support the onboarding and offboarding of existing and future MSPs (Managed Service Providers) to/from Defence Digital SIAM;
  • Engagement with SACM technical SMEs to support provision of MSP CI data and delivery to DD Authority CMDB tooling;
  • Assist in the preparation of Service Asset and Configuration Management Plans;
  • Review and Maintenance of CMDB data with respect to currency, availability, depth and breadth, audit of MSP data. Quarterly;
  • Managing receipt of data from discovery sources and ensuring integrity for Production dataset;
  • Pro-active engagement with CMDB Customers to encourage data exploitation and CSI;
  • Managing CMDB development via SMITS engagement to meet Customer requirements and to align with Authority OSM Programme dependencies - learn for previous experience of team already in operation.

Knowledge Management:

  • Support in developing and maturing the AS Knowledge Management role, embedding it into OSM culture and the wider Defence Digital;
  • Provide guidance to users and publishers of Knowledge Articles in-line with the Knowledge Management Process and Governance procedures;
  • Assurance of the quality of Knowledge Articles prior to the publish approval stage;
  • Drive the communication and education of Knowledge Management across Defence Digital, our service providers and wider Defence Digital to ensure it is followed;
  • Provide KM input to support Continual Service Improvement processes;
  • Conduct information audits as and when required or as the Knowledge Management process dictates;
  • Other KM related tasks as required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of how Service Asset & Configuration Management supports Service Management and mitigates risk to live service delivery.
  • Also must have an understanding of developing SACM Processes to drive delivery of ITIL-aligned Service Management in a live environment, and the challenges this presents.
  • They must have experience of working closely with SIAM Process stakeholders to ensure effective integration between dependent Processes and Suppliers.
  • Experience working within a Service Asset & Configuration Management team to support live service, or experience gained through working closely with them as a key stakeholder, is highly desirable.
  • Experience of providing advice, guidance, and support to help people to adopt and embed best-practice approaches to information and knowledge management into all areas of their work.
  • Evaluates and selects appropriate knowledge management methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards.
  • Promotes collaborative technologies, processes and behaviours to facilitate sharing of ideas and work-knowledge among internal teams and external partners.
  • Provides support for the establishment and nurturing of communities of practice, including workshops, one-on-one guidance, and troubleshooting.
  • Develops and implements processes and behaviours which help people easily access and use data, learning, and knowledge to improve performance.
  • Shares ideas and examples of existing practices to encourage adoption. Implements knowledge management at programme, project and team level including tailoring in line with agreed standards. Contributes to the definition of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for knowledge management.
