About Our Client

GreenSquareAccord (GSA) was formed in April 2021 from the merger of Accord Housing Association, based in the West Midlands, and GreenSquare Group, based in the South West. Both organisations have a long history of providing affordable homes and support services for people in need.

The merger of these two strong organisations has created one that's even stronger with ambitions to do more. GSA is focused on directing its significant resources to improve services to customers; invest more in local communities; extend care and support services; and build more affordable homes.

Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Director you will play a key role in the delivery of GSA's objectives. Responsible for a large newly-combined Financial Reporting function, you will drive forward the streamlining and simplification of accounting and reporting processes as the organisation moves forward on its integration journey.

Your key duties will include:

  • Provision of expert reporting and accounting advice to the Finance Director, CFO and Executive Board, including presenting to the Audit Risk and Finance Committee on changes in financial reporting, policies or procedures.
  • Delivering a successful year end and acting as the key liaison between the external auditors and GSA.
  • Leading the Financial Reporting function to deliver high quality and timely consolidated financial statements and statutory reporting.
  • Leading the development of a high quality, streamlined and rigorous financial control environment for the Group
  • Ensure that the provision of monthly management information is accurate, timely and appropriate for the users of the information, ensuring assistance of non-financial staff understanding of the statements.
  • Ensure that finance systems operate to successfully support the development of high performance in the team.
  • Working with fellow finance leaders and alongside senior stakeholders across the Group to ensure the delivery of a first-class finance service to the business
  • Leading a team that is both performance and delivery focused.

The Successful Applicant

You will be a CCAB or equivalent qualified accountant with a proven track record of achievement, with the ability to drive and manage a diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will have worked in social housing or other relevant industries, with experience of managing successful and innovative teams. You will have led year-end processes in a complex, regulated environment and developed or been part of developing a successful auditor relationship. Experience of general ledger and other systems implementations, and working through or being part of a transformation would be beneficial.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join an evolving team and make a real impact on a growing organisation. We believe this to be one of the most exciting opportunities of its kind currently in the market.
