Deputy Director Reward Employee Relations and HR Service Delivery

Salary: £77,340 - £83,233

Location: Edinburgh

This is an exciting time to join the Scottish Government as we transform our People Directorate in line with our target operating model, with a focus on professionalism, embedding communities of expertise, digitalisation and high quality end-to-end customer service.

You will play an active part in the Directorate Senior Leadership Team, role modelling behaviours in line with our organisational values, our commitment to diversity and inclusion and our Directorate Transformation Programme, including implementation of our HR Target Operating Model and preparing for implementation of a new integrated HR and Finance system. You will provide inclusive and improvement-focused leadership to wide-ranging and busy teams, ensuring a productive and supportive working environment, which enables colleagues to engage, thrive and operate to their full potential.

As an individual, you will have significant personal responsibility and a high profile leadership role. You will provide high level professional HR advice on pay and reward to Ministers and the Executive Team, nurture our partnership with the Trades Unions and provide operational leadership to the HR Service Centre which provides direct payroll, pensions and helpdesk services to over 15,000 customers, including Scottish Government and across public bodies covered by Scottish Ministers. You will have accountability for audit and compliance and that risks to business continuity are identified and managed, particularly during the major transition to a new HR system.

This is a permanent and pensionable Senior Civil Service Deputy Director (SCS1) appointment. If applicable, secondment from your existing employer would also be considered. Relocation expenses may be available.

This role combines expectations of HR specialist knowledge on reward with significant operational leadership. Given this breadth we recognise that candidates may come with a range of experience, to that end we would consider candidates who are CIPD qualified, or are committed to attaining CIPD qualification and bring other directly relevant experience. For further details on this role and how to apply please visit www.work-for-scotland.org (Ref: ID 2022-3095). Alternatively please contact Carolyn Murdoch in the Senior Staffing & Resourcing Team (Carolyn.Murdoch@gov.scot).

We welcome applications from all suitably qualified people and aim to employ a diverse workforce, which reflects the people of Scotland.

Closing date: 17 July 2022 at 23:55.
