Looking for a Non-Executive Director position? Then look no further.

Johnnie Johnson is a not-for-profit housing association, housing over 7,000 residents across the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Our vision Living Longer, Living Better is simply about helping people age well and live independently for longer.

Our hard work is being recognised. As Johnnie Johnson, we've just won the "Most Innovative Housing Provider" award and Astraline has just been recognised for the approach to Workforce Development from the Telecare Services Association (TSA), the Telecare Industry's Regulatory Body.

This vacancy has an emphasis on using data and digital solutions to deliver our vision. We are looking for someone with a strong commercial background and who is passionate about customer experience and insight. Your skills will enhance our Board skills to oversee and drive our digital journey and how the business can use data and digital solutions to:
  • Better understand our customers
  • Identify our future customers
  • Understand future and current customer's diverse and cultural needs
  • Design services that meet their needs
  • Improve our service offer and brand perception
  • Deliver our growth ambitions, especially in Technology Enabled Care

Sitting on our Group Johnnie Johnson Board, you'll be reviewing and setting the pace for our current goals and contribute to decision making on future strategies and plans, challenging our Executive Team to make sure our performance reaches the high standard we set. Our ambitions are "Outstanding" - providing homes and services that support our residents to remain independent in their own home.

You would also be on the Board of our brand-new subsidiary and limited company Astraline. Astraline is a USP for Johnnie Johnson, setting us apart in the Housing Sector. Astraline is our Technology Enabled Care Business, with a 24 hour monitoring service that supports people to stay safe and live independently in their own homes for longer. Both the Astraline and Johnnie Johnson Boards have set a very exciting growth strategy with a 'profit for purpose' mandate as a commercial subsidiary, maximising on the opportunity from the digital switch over and the explosion in hybrid care and support provision.

We're looking for someone with outstanding communication skills and the ability to debate, challenge and influence others to reach consensus in decision making. You'll be flexible, fair minded and confident, and have demonstrable senior leadership experience to encourage and support others to take decisions autonomously. Self-motivated and keen to continuously learn and develop, you'll have experience of strategic analysis and be committed to customer involvement and effective service delivery, driving change which is based on a strong customer focus. We'd also like you to have evidence of continuing professional development and be prepared to devote the necessary time to deliver the business of the Board.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a Market Making provider in Independent Living and will allow you to develop your knowledge in providing homes and services for older people, in a unique environment that operates in different regions, in the UK, and with a commercial National Telecare monitoring business.

Selection for this role will be based on merit. Johnnie Johnson is fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and is therefore keen to attract applications from underrepresented groups. For example, women are currently underrepresented on our Board, and we are determined to increase our gender balance as we have already previously done at executive level in Johnnie Johnson.

How to apply:

A Recruitment Pack is available to download including Role Profiles, Terms of Reference, Astraline Products and Services brochure as well as our Current and Future Plans.

Please submit a CV and a covering letter by 1st June, stating why you wish to be considered for the role sharing with us your commercial experience, what excites you about the Astraline opportunity and details about your data insight knowledge to improve customer experience. We also ask that you complete our Equality Monitoring Form. We also ask for two Telephone References. All this information is in our Recruitment Pack.

Closing Date: 1st June

Interview Date: 21st June, at Eden Point, Three Acres Lane, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, SK8 6RL.

Please note that we work in a hybrid way. Many Board Meetings use Microsoft Teams, but we also hold face to face meetings during the year.

We look forward to hearing from you.
