We are currently working with a very successful housebuilder operating in Essex who are looking for a Head of Commercial to run the commercial department across a new region.
Responsibilities will include:

Additionally, you will:
- Work alongside Technical, Buying, Surveying, and Estimating teams to meet commercial objectives.
- Oversee estimators and surveyors to sort tendering processes, handle projected costs, and select contractors as appropriate.
- Maintain cost and budget control procedures, assessing estimated costs and managing cost overruns.
- Review projects (running around 10-15 smaller scale developments), assessing materials used, checking compliance, and documenting as required.
- Ensuring subcontractors are using the specified materials and if installations are up correct.
- Also conducting in-depth investigations via opening up and checking buildings themselves.
- Defending any claims against Countryside, while managing claims issued against third parties.
- Run department as its own small region, forming part of the overall management team.
Candidates should have:
- Worked in housebuilding commercial/surveying departments previously.
- Analytical and skilled in handling finances and costings.
- Excellent problem-solving and dispute resolution skills
- Drive and motivation, able to deliver targets at a high standard
- Highly experienced in leadership positions and managing a team.
- Very knowledgeable in all areas of construction and business efficiency.
