Chief Technical Architect | London/Remote - Up to GBP130,000 + Bonus & Excellent Benefits

The Role

A highly successful entertainment organisation headquartered in London is rapidly growing across all technology teams and platforms. As Chief Technical Architect, you have responsibility for technical strategy and oversight of large-scale platform integrations, be responsible for helping to build the architecture department, and will supervise a team of architects working on complex technical challenges.

This is a strategic and senior role, where you will be expected to implement strong engineering, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices, and define architecture improvements and enablers while balancing regulatory, technical, and business challenges.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior Software/Technical Architect or an existing Chief/Head of Architecture, ready for a new challenge. They will be used to working in challenging, fast-paced environments. They will be enthusiastic, dynamic, business focused, with excellent communication skills and will excel at problem solving, with an understanding of both software and operational issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own part of the technology road map, standards, and long-term vision, including overall technical direction and strategy
  • Provide support and help with technical problem resolution
  • Collaborate with the other Architects, Network Operations, Production Engineering, and Product, and Commercial stakeholders to ensure the right technology is delivered to meet their needs while meeting ambitious timelines
  • Enable the release of value by ensuring frequent software deployments of high quality
  • Drive Agile development and software engineering best practices
  • Define, own, and communicate the capture of architecture KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Drive continuous improvement within your teams and across the company
  • Plan, track and help prioritise architectural enablers for their platforms
  • Help drive refactoring the current and target architectures to make it easier to enter new territories
  • Communicate, present and articulate complex technical architecture proposals and solutions to both technical and non-technical other stakeholders within the organisation

Required Skills

  • Agile methodologies, eg, Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.
  • Distributed Systems, orchestration patterns, integration patterns (messaging, REST), Microservices
  • Continuous delivery and integration
  • Domain-driven design (DDD)
  • Strong understanding of software engineering practices (eg, test-driven development, secure coding practices)
  • Distributed cache systems
  • RDBMS and NoSQL experience
  • Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience working with remote teams and an ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation.
  • Previous architecture experience

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with public cloud, especially AWS (Amazon Web Services) and cloud native architecture
  • Event Sourcing, especially Kafka
  • Understanding of both front- and Back End development
  • Knowledge of containerisation, Docker, and cloud platforms
  • Enthusiastic about the latest developments in the industry
  • Experience with build/deployment automation
  • Information security experience
  • Line management experience
