Client Details

My client is a leading 3PL with a Network across the UK, they are looking for a high performing Assistant General Manager to run a busy Warehouse and Transport Operations within Swindon.

They are within the Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain Sector and have a number of prestigious contracts across the UK.

Description

The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for;

  • Report into the General Manager.
  • Oversee the day to day Operation & Customer reporting on performance within a large Warehouse and in house Distribution facility in Swindon
  • Be responsible for up to 1000+ heads on site, managed through 8 direct reports
  • Work with key stakeholders both internally and externally including; Transport, Finance and HR.
  • Ensure the operation is running efficiently and tracking at or below an agreed budgeted cost level.
  • Take the lead for all H&S matters throughout the site.
  • Manage the transport, inbound, pick and dispatch teams working across varied shift patterns, across 2 Sites.
  • Ensure Inventory damage / loss is kept to a minimum at all times.
  • Be responsible for performance development, performance improvement / challenges and HR related issues up to disciplinary and dismissal.
  • Manage and lead a culture of Continuous Improvement

Profile

The successful candidate for the Assistant General Manager role will have the following skills and experiences:

  • A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background.
  • A minimum of 5+ years Logistics management experience.
  • Have worked for a FMCG OR 3PL Environment
  • Have managed in excess of 500+ staff previously.
  • Experience within a FMCG or Retail - Advantageous.
  • IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications - Advantageous.
  • Union Experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Have experience of LEAN methodologies - Advantageous.
  • Experience on managing budgets up to £2million .
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be results driven and commercially minded.
  • Be commutable to Swindon

This candidate may have worked within a; Head of Operations, Senior Operations Manager, Site Manager, Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Operations Manager, Logistics Manager, Depot Manager, Site Manager or General Manager role previously.

Job Offer

The Successful Assistant General Manager will receive;

Salary - £60,000 - £65,000
