Michael Page are looking to recruit a Head of Logistics for our client in Reading with a focus on inbound and carrier management.

Description

In the role of Head of Logistics you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the logistics function, with responsibility for all inbound and outbound logistics processes, including £10m seas freight and £5m logistics budget
  • Negotiate and deliver improvement across inbound freight providers, negotiating competitive rates and staying aware of market trends for inbound sea freight
  • Analyse, source, tender and review carrier partners with scope to identify areas of improvement across cost and customer experience
  • Ability to analyse and challenge current status, resulting in recommendations for improvements wand financial benefits
  • Monitor KPIs and SLAs of partners across the logistics network, utilising data to build a full end-to-end picture of cost and performance
  • Lead the logistics team with ownership for their development and scaling of the team as required
  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Service teams to identify trends and areas for improvement in fulfilment and customer experience
  • Work closely with the Operations Director and exec team on wider Operations and logistics strategy planning in line with long-term business goals

Profile

What we're looking for:

  • Extensive experience of leading a team in a fast-paced environment, ideally with a background in eCommerce or retail
  • Strong familiarity with inbound sea freight negotiations, with understanding of changing trends and experience in negotiating costs
  • Experience running tenders and negotiating carrier costs and contracts and monitoring post implementation analysis
  • Experience of moving from logistics partner ensuring excellent execution
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to ensure strong levels of performance across a wide variety of external stakeholders
  • A proactive self-starter who can identify opportunities and deliver a clear recommendation which can be implemented
