Our client is a successful and well-respected E Commerce, distribution and manufacturing engineering business. The business has an extensive high-quality product range including, Power, Hand and Garage Tools, Tool Storage, Hydraulics, Generators, Lighting, Garage Equipment and Workwear.

This is a particularly exciting time for the business as it continues to build on its success through organic growth and potential acquisitions as well as further developing its capabilities, services and market position.

This senior executive appointment will enjoy significant levels of autonomy. The successful candidate will enjoy a stimulating and rewarding high profile role with a genuine opportunity for significant career progression. The COO will have responsibility for day-to-day operations of the business. An opportunity will exist through succession planning for the COO to naturally succeed the CEO.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO and board of directors, to design and deliver the UK operational strategy, ensuring the business delivers its profitable growth aspirations. Actively contribute to the Company's overall strategic decisions and ensure that all business units and departments are working in accordance with such goals.

The COO will drive productivity and continuous process improvements while managing all phases of warehousing and distribution. This will include but not limited to planning, organizing, leading optimum day to day operations to exceed customers' expectations, increasing production, quality control, maintenance, inventory control, shipping and receiving assets capacity and flexibility, while minimizing unnecessary costs.

Additionally, the COO is responsible for the inspiration and development of the management team and staff by demonstrating a command of operational efficiencies and a mastery of team member engagement. This person will be responsible for setting high standards and goals.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years' senior management experience in e commerce, distribution, warehousing, logistics, transportation with an understanding of a manufacturing environment
  • Graduate calibre with qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, or related field of study or equivalent experience working in a related field
  • P&L accountability/responsibility/ownership and a proactive working attitude
  • Skilled in organisational development, personnel management, budget / resource development and strategic planning
