Totum Partners are delighted to have been retained by one of the UK's leading patent and trademark attorneys in its search for a new Finance Director. Reporting into the Management Committee and overseeing a team of 10, this is an exciting opportunity for senior qualified accountant to join an ambitious, growing IP firm. The role has come about as the result of a planned retirement.

The overall purpose of the Finance Director role is leading the Finance & Accounts function, ensuring they are providing an effective operational service to the business; providing strategic advice to the partnership on financial and related matters; and managing the firm's financial processes and controls to support business needs. In recent years the firm has expanded headcount and offices and in some ways the finance team's process need to catch up with this expansion. The successful applicant will be expected to do a root and branch review of all procedures and look for where efficiency and improvements can be made. The management information the firm receives from the finance team is good but there is an appetite from the business to receive more of it, particularly when reviewing the firm's performance and which areas should be focused on for further development. The growth recently achieved was done so via both organically and via some M&A activity. Applicants who have some corporate finance expertise would therefore be of interest because there may be some future acquisitions.

Applicants should be qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or international equivalent) and have operated at a senior managerial level, with demonstrable experience of leading teams during times of change and transformation. A proven ability to work alongside senior colleagues and advise them on financial matters is a must as are strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
