The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is looking to appoint an exceptional non-executive Director to be part of its Board.

UKHO is a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data. It supports defence and global shipping, whilst helping customers and partners unlock a deeper understanding of the world's oceans and coastal environments. Its activities range from the discharging of the UK's hydrographic obligations under the International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea to providing hydrographic services to commercial customers, while also delivering a financial return to MOD. UKHO also advises the UK Government on hydrographic policy matters and represents the UK at international fora, including the International Hydrographic Organisation.

The successful candidate will be one of four independent non-executive directors (including the Chair) on the UKHO Board and will work with board colleagues to drive forward UKHO's pivotal commercial and digital transformation programme in response to significant change in the international market for high-quality hydrographic data. This non-executive director will also chair the UKHO Remuneration and Nominations Committee.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of achievement throughout their professional career with strategic leadership experience and evidence of sound judgment and decision-making skills. The role demands an ability to think strategically and requires experience at board level in a large-scale commercial environment that has undergone substantial evolutionary change. Candidates should have experience of operating in a digital-first organisation, recognising the importance of culture change and the value people bring to achieve this.

If you have an enthusiasm and a desire to support the successful delivery of UKHO's challenging agenda, and you have great leadership and influencing skills with previous non-executive director experience on boards or committees with senior-level strategic and corporate responsibility, then we would like to hear from you.  Candidates must meet relevant nationality and security clearance requirements.

We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from under-represented groups, including disabled people and members of black, Asian and minority ethnic communities to improve the diversity of experience of our Arm's Length Bodies.

Closing date: 21st February 2022.

UKHO embraces diversity and promotes inclusion and equality of opportunity. We are a Disability Confident employer, which includes offering a guaranteed interview to candidates with disabilities, providing they meet the minimum selection criteria.
