Location: Birmingham - travel to Nigeria will be required

CX Squared Talent Solutions are the exclusive talent partner to an international fintech business that are looking for a CTO with Insurance experience within the financial services industry.

Having considered a number of cities around the country, Birmingham's thriving tech and start-up scene was a key factor in making the decision to build their new fintech business here.

The business has got a global presence with thier product engineering team mainly in Nigeria, you will add innovation and a strategic drive to this team which will continue to innovate and expand.

You will be required to travel to Nigeria at least 4 - 5 times a month as the product engineering team have a big presence in Lagos, but we will have a presence in Birmingham where we are building another brand new team.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a start-up/scale-up environment and will be responsible for:
  • Aligning the company's strategic and technology roadmap
  • Managing multiple products and projects with ever changing priorities
  • Taking ownership for the QA strategy whilst aligning QA and Engineering together to ensure a holistic, cross functional approach to Software Engineering
  • Scaling teams across Product, QA and Software Development whilst ensure a smooth, collaborative process at all times
  • Monitoring the latest trends in technology in order to maintain a competitive advantage
  • Working to ensure that the customer journey and vision is at the forefront of the technology team at all times

Your role will include product architecture, product development & management, technology identification and selection, people management and development, cost and budget management, setting direction and strategy as well as continued focus on on-going maintenance and support. This includes strategy execution, recruitment and staff management.

Due to the custom nature of the fintech products they build, the tech stack includes a variety of technologies including:

Node.JS / PHP/ MySQL / Firebase / Redis / Kafka

They want you to help work with their off-shore development team to understand what technologies should be prioritised and developed whilst assessing what skills are needed internally moving forward.
