Description
As ESG Head of Partnerships and Special Projects you will:
- Be maintaining big picture, strategic oversight of ongoing engagement with cross-sector and industry groups, NGOs, academic institutions, and other critical stakeholders, as well as internal thought leaders and strategic partners such as Investor Relations, Climate Risk, Principal Investments, etc., to ensure the many activites of the team are coordinated and aligned in a way that maximizes strategic opportunity and builds pathways for future progress.
- The role will encompass those activities that, from time to time, require dedicated or accelerated focus to ensure successful delivery. In particular, this may include driving the development of presentations for the ExCo and Board, answering external challenges from NGOs or activist groups, or working on critical internal projects - as specified by the Group Head of Sustainability or the Global Head of Sustainability and ESG.
Your day to day responsibilities can include:
- Tracking and managing all existing partnerships both internal and external
- Managing a team that is responsible for maintaining and amplifying existing partnerships both internal and external, including ensuring all necessary controls and deliverables are met
- Directing and coordinating the production of necessary business material on behalf of the MD(s) including preparing and providing updates for Board/Ex-Co and critical external stakeholders such as regulators, investors, and NGOs.
- Horizon scanning for emerging or changing relationships that are key to the Banks ESG objectives
- Directly or via team members prepare briefing notes and business intelligence on key stakeholders for the Global Head of Sustainability and ESG / Group Head of Sustainability, and provide support for any partnership events that the MD leadership attend
- Peer Bench-marking on engagement and partnership with other Financial Institutions, to ensure the bank remains competitive and recognised as thought leaders
- On occasion, attend external conferences, meetings and events as delegate for the Global Head of Sustainability and ESG
Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong knowledge / experience of Sustainability and ESG issues, particularly in relation to financial services
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills, with a proven track record of managing business relationships and developing internal and external networks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders internally and externally
- Team Leader, with the ability to co-ordinate across regions and multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working with external policy-making and thought leadership organisations of many types
- Experience in Banking, Investor Relations or Government Relations, or NGO leadership
- Previous experience leading a team of relationship managers, preferably Sustainability or ESG related
- Ability to create/draft Board/ExCo level presentations
- Experience of working across multiple business areas, functions and locations
