Harris global are currently looking for a Head of Machine Learning to join our global client, a leading market research institute, on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have prior experience working as a Senior Machine Learning professional within a team that has global reach. The candidate will be confident in taking Machine Learning as a practise to the next level across a growing organisation.

Candidates will possess:

• Proven leadership qualities by excellent track records
• Ability to fluently communicate in an English business environment, speaking German is a big plus
• Ability to translate and clearly communicate sophisticated analytical information to non-expert stakeholders and clients
• Ability to think creatively in addressing analytical objectives
• Proven budget planning and management skills
• Proven people management skills with extended span of command ( >10 FTEs, multiple teams, multiple locations)
• Proven platform management or ownership skills
• PhD or Master degree that reflects strong statistical/mathematical/computer science skills (highly desirable)
• Typically 10+ years of relevant work experience
• Expert statistical skills
  • either in survey statistics (sampling, non-response adjustments, Bayesian statistics),
  • or econometric modelling (program evaluation, forecasting, economic theory, panel data),
  • or observational causal inference (potential outcomes, structural equation models, instrumental variables)
  • or experimental design.

• Expert knowledge of analytic programming languages (ie Python) and the respective Python Machine Learning ecosystem
• Expert understanding of AI principles, Explainable AI and AI pipelines
• Expert knowledge of optimization and/or machine learning algorithms and/or deep learning algorithms
• Expert knowledge of computer science fundamentals, software design principles and patterns, patterns and testing strategies
• Expert skills with regard to working in (big) database environments
• Expert skills with regard to performance optimization and scalability
• Expert knowledge of cloud computing environments and machine learning pipelines (eg mlflow, kubeflow, TFX)
