Head of Data Platform Engineering - Data & Analytics Transformation
Location: London / remote

Global FMCG Brand seeks to attract a highly accomplished and experienced Architect to join their senior management team and lead the design and transformation of their new data and analytics platform.

Their ambition is to become the "best data insights driven" fast moving consumer goods company within their sector, unleashing the power of data with consumers, customers, and suppliers. The vision is to create digital touch points and create 360-degree views of consumers, customers and suppliers. The data hub will act as a central hub, where insights are derived through advanced analytics such as predictive and prescriptive solutions to improve their customer and supplier strategies.

The Central Hub will be built using the best-in-class technologies with industry leaders like Microsoft and Databricks, following the latest reference architecture for the data hub, which includes real time, near real time and batch use cases. Technologies include latest storage eco-system, data ingestion using ADF, analytics service with Synapse and data processing with Databricks and Spark. This would be an opportunity to work with large volumes of data (big data scale) as we invest in external data sources to build consumer journeys. This is also an opportunity to define and develop data products that deliver business value to stakeholders. You will be building end to end data pipelines using true agile principles.

Key deliverables

• Set department's strategy to enable the design of scalable, end-to-end analytics solutions
• Anticipate, identify, and facilitate the solution to enterprise issues concerning data management to improve data quality
• Own relationships with key business stakeholders to understand and anticipate current and future business needs
• Build and manage budget for department
• Own the modern data platform responsibilities by co-architecting, building, and supporting
• Be hands on with modern data stack with mentoring and coaching data and ML engineers
• Work with the Enterprise architecture and product teams to identify the right technology solutions for data applications, data, and visualization products.
• Own data engineering resource planning across the A&I projects portfolio, including prioritization
• Lead change management by creating action plans to move employees past barrier points and on to desired outcomes.
• Work with partners to achieve the goals defined for the organization

Technical IT requirements

• Extensive modern data engineering and data platform transformaton
• Core Programming Languages (Python/ Scala/ Java/ C#)
• Core Applications (MSFT ADFv2/ Azure Databricks/ ADLS)
• Desired Skills: (Scala/ Spark/ Hive/ Kylo /Kafka /Terraform/ Agile Delivery)
• Core Programming Languages (PL/SQL, T-SQL)
