Our client, a leading contracts and services business in Northamptonshire, requires an experienced and hands-on Finance Director to support the Senior Leadership Team in the next phase of its ambitious growth journey.

The role:
  • Work closely with the MD and Senior Management Team
  • Fully contribute to company strategic direction
  • Manage and lead a small finance department
  • Set, follow and deliver budgets and forecasts with strong commercial acumen
  • Create and execute the finance plan
  • Provide astute and insightful financial analysis
  • Ensure reporting is in line with latest accounting standard changes (IFRS 16)
  • Develop financial modelling to support business initiatives
  • Oversee accounting activities including cost control, compliance, cash flow, risk analysis and profit & loss
  • Prepare management and statutory accounts
  • Oversee the financial reporting process
  • Review operational procedures and make necessary improvements
  • Work closely with asset funders to ensure relationships are maintained, ensuring all targets are reported and future planning is maintained

The individual:
  • A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) ideally with a least 10 year post qualified experience
  • Previous experience as a standalone FD essential and ideally within the contract hire industry
  • Build strong and effective governance processes / framework around projects and commercial activities
  • Commercial outlook with an ability to 'see the bigger picture' and understand the importance of dynamic asset management and diligent cash flow management
  • A goal orientated, resilient finance professional with a proactive and a 'can do' attitude
  • Plenty of drive and enthusiasm with a quick grasp of the commercial realities of the business and able to express it financially
  • Works well under pressure in fast paced environment and can deal with rapidly changing situations
  • Strong technical, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong staff management and IT Systems skills
  • Outgoing, honest and approachable personality who is not afraid to be 'hands-on'
  • Dealing with Internal stakeholders in all areas of the business and external stakeholders including Shareholders, Suppliers, customers, Auditors, Solicitors, Finance providers and bank

The successful candidate will be a hands-on FD/CFO, used to working in high pressure and fast moving environments, with an ability to lead and mentor. You will be a proactive leader, able to work on your own initiative and with thorough collaboration and transparency across the business.
