Avanti Recruitment are currently working with an independent trading company who specialize in commodity derivatives trading. The company are looking to take on a Head of Development to join their existing team. The company are based in the heart of London with great transport links.

The Head of Software Development will have the responsibility for the development strategy, implementation, planning, testing and on-going maintenance of the trading functions.

Your day to day responsibilities will include looking after the development and maintenance of the company's core risk management and pricing system. You will also be responsible for code reviews, mentoring and leading more junior developers. Oversight and management of the software engineering team with a focus on delivery and development quality. You will liaise with traders and internal stakeholders to understand the business requirements. On top of this you will manage relationships with external providers and assign development tasks to more junior developer and coordinate development tasks and delivery.

Tech used in this company: Java, .Net, Spring, Springboot, Kubernetes, Kafka, Azure, SQL (MongoDB), Jenkins, Junit.

Skills required:

* Development experience with competency in both Java and .Net

* Hands on Development ability - Able to complete pull review and assist members with technical issues

* Expert in software architecture and design

* Experience with MQ systems such as Kafka/Informatica/Nats or gRPC

* Experience with modern CI/CD - Jenkins/Azure Pipeline/ Docker/Helm

* Experience with container based systems and cloud systems

* Experience with financial systems with real time requirements

This role is offering a salary of up to £125,000 + Bonus + Flexi Working + 25 days holiday.
