Overview:
Due to continued expansion my client is recruiting a Technical Director to join their civil engineering business. The Technical Director should have solid technical skills and ideally be from an engineering background. In addition, the Technical Director should have developed interpersonal skills, as you will be leading a growing team as well as dealing with clients and consultants regularly.
Role:
Provide design/ technical input and advise from project inception through to close out.
Liaise with project teams to understand requirements and provide correct level of support to meet programme and cost plan demands.
BIM process implementation and company wide accountability.
Input into tenders from a design and technical (buildability) point of view.
Manage and mentor existing team members.
Building and maintaining excellent relationships with key influencers in the sectors in which the business operate.
Ensuring that the commercial risks to which the company is exposed are fully identified and evaluated in accordance with the risk management policies and procedures.
Technical Director Background:
Experience in leading a team of professionals - Design Managers, Civil & Structural Engineers, Technical Manager(s), Planning Manager & Civils Designers.
Experience in Design Management.
Experience in Value Engineering, design optimisation, temporary works design.
Technology/BIM Implementation.
Client relationships - ability to lead discussions with client's teams, designers, architects and understand requirements.
Experience in Project controls/planning.
Solid commercial understanding - working to budgets & forecasting & reporting.
