My Nottinghamshire based FMCG client are looking to build on their leadership capability, as they look to recruit this brand new Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager (Materials and Procurement Manager) position.

The role will focus on optimising efficiency, cost control and customer service through the effective development and implementation of procurement, production and logistics procedures and high-quality standards.

  • Lead and motivate the supply chain and procurement team
  • Active involvement in forecasting levels of demand for products
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers; negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Drive the design and redevelopment of the in-house Materials and Procurement system and related procedures, requiring close involvement with the in-house IT team and the Operations Manager
  • Develop strategies to make sure that supplier performance targets are met - or exceeded
  • Ensure the security and sustainability of sources of essential products
  • Work closely with the Operations and Production Manager to ensure accurate weekly and monthly stock takes are performed as efficiently as possible
  • Calculate volumes for and raise orders of raw materials to meet production build requirements and in line with the weekly forecasts
  • Ensure all materials arrive into the business on a timely basis
  • Manage daily levels of stock to ensure waste is minimal


You will be a proven leader and have experience of managing procurement and stock management processes within a fast-paced, FMCG environment. You will have excellent relationship building skills, with both stakeholders and suppliers and very strong eye for detail Inc. numerical skills

Experience of importing would be advantageous, together with CIPS qualification.
