About the Role

The UK's National Physical Laboratory is seeking a Chair of its Science and Technology Advisory Council and a Non-Exec utive Director to join our B oard.

In this role, you will chair our Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC) and enjoy advocating for NPL as an external ambassador. The role will suit someone with experience in governance and leadership frombusiness, government or academia.

To give you an idea of how this role would feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

  • Guide and influence the organisation at a strategic scientific and engineering level, providing clear and consistent leadership and scrutiny over NPL's scientific performance
  • Convene and engage a large group of independent science and engineering experts on topics of strategic imperative for the UK and NPL
  • Manage a diverse group of stakeholders
  • S t eer ing the Council to a consensus or majority view
  • Oversee the management of an International Science Review of NPL's research and innovation.

NPL is the UK's National Metrology Institute. Our role is to research, create and deliver the measurement infrastructure which underpins the UK's prosperity and quality of life across many fields of industry.

Time commitment: 18-20days per year.

T erm: Three-year term with the potential for reappointment.

R emuneration: £13,500 pa

About You
